Mother's Day Weekend Recap

For once, I felt like I actually had a long weekend!

It was so nice to not have to go into work on Saturday morning and it was even better to be able to spend some extra time with the hubs!

If you read last Friday's post... you would know that last Friday was a big day for Michael and I was asking for some prayers as he was going to take a HUGE test for a new job.... So let's talk about that!!

The test site was 3 1/2 hours from our house. He left at 3:15am Friday morning. The testing started at 7:30am and would end at 4:30pm IF you made it that far into the day. There were multiple tests to take {ie: operating equipment, drawing out gas line plans, reading blue prints, digging a trench, etc.} and if you didn't pass one, you didn't go onto the next one and you would be escorted out.

At 2pm, Michael called my work. Mind you alllllll damn day I was stressing out because I couldn't wait to hear from him and I was nervous for him. But, as each hour passed, I knew it was a good thing. So when he called at 2 I just figured he was on lunch break or something. I'm like Hey! How's it going??!!! He's like well I'm heading home..... {silence} I said something along the lines of oh.. that's a bummer. What happened? He's like well... I was the first one done and I finished so I'm heading home early! I'm like wait! What?! You passed! Your so MEAN!!!!!

Yes! He passed! I am SO extremely proud of Michael for this accomplishment! He is such a smart man and he is such a hard worker! This is such a blessing for him as well as our future!

So when I got home Friday night we hugged, kissed, laughed, and talked about his day and what happens next! We sat on the front porch for a while and let the dogs run around. Michael made some phone calls to his bosses. I drank wine. :)

Saturday was kind of a crazy day.. I'm not going to go into detail but let's just say these beers were MUCH needed!

Sunday morning we worked in the yard and cleaned up some stuff in the garage. These two big babies wanted to go for a ride so we just let them sit in the hub's beater truck while we were doing stuff. They are so funny!

Sunday afternoon we went out to eat with Michael's Mom, her boyfriend, My Mom, Greg, and my little sister. It was so nice to see them since I haven't seen them in a while! And it was of course really nice to spend some time with our awesome mother's in honor of Mother's day!! :)

You may have already seen this on IG {@justjuliejoy... Just a little collage of my Mom and I over the last couple years. She is truly one of the hardest working, selfless, beautiful - inside and out - woman that I know! I am so lucky to have her not only as my Mother, but also my best friend! There isn't a day that goes by that I don't talk to her from the moment I peel my eyes open until I go to bed and say good night! She's my rock and honestly, I wouldn't be who I am today if it weren't for her guidance, love, support,  reassurance, advice, and craziness!

I hope you had a wonderful weekend!

  1. Yay for the hubs passing his test! I remember when Danny took his national registry to become a paramedic. I felt like I was going to throw up all morning. Sometimes when we are out in the garage we'll take Diesel out there and let him lay in one of our vehicles. He'll just hang out and take a nap maybe. Dogs are hilarious. I still love that skirt!

  6. Congrats to the hubby! And I love Angry Orchard...one of my favorites! I'm so glad we aren't the only ones who let the dogs get in the car to think they are going on a ride. Of course, we don't leave them in there but if we are out in the yard, they enjoy it!
