Friday Favorites

I know you can't believe it (I can't either) but I'm linking up with Amanda for some Friday Favorites! It's been a while! I don't have too many favorites because I don't go anywhere and I haven't purchased anything in months. Don't be jealous of the exciting life I live! ;)

This song by Thomas Rhett - Die a happy man. Love it. ♥

The pretzel piggy from pizza hut. Minus the bacon and add tomato. Ahhhhmazing. It's a good thing the nearest pizza hut is over a half hour away otherwise I could see myself getting this every other day. Obviously one of my NY goals was not dieting... ha!

Speaking of that diet that I don't do... I left the hubs and the baby at home on Wednesday so I could go to a few appointments. While I was gone he baked a cake with his Mom's homemade frosting. Anyone want to guess how many days this will last in our house?! Fun fact: Michael baked me a cake when he proposed and ever since then there's no way he can fool me that he can't cook/bake!

I've been doing lots of pinteresting (is that a word) for Remington's 1st Birthday party (how is that happening already?!) and I seen Jade from A Spoonful of Style on the same page as the pink/gold theme I'm after! Such a pretty color combo! This cake is similar to our 2nd baby shower cake and it's exactly what I had in mind! Isn't it beautiful?!

This is hilariously disgusting....

Last but not least... bath time last night! This ham is my number one favorite!

Enjoy your weekend!

2016 "Goals"

Oh you know, just another post about New Year's resolutions and goals... It's only the third Monday of the New Year and I'm finally getting around to discussing some of our/my goals. Other people may not give two poops... but for accountability purposes, I'm writing them down anyway. :) Plus, I personally enjoy reading other people's goals! I think it's motivating and it's nice to encourage each other! I really enjoyed Amanda's post about how to keep your resolutions going past January! I think I'll be referring back to that post throughout the year as well.

On New Year's Day I asked Michael if he had any goals for this year. Like the typical man he is, he's says he didn't think about it. The only goal he has is to make more money and save more money. Ever hear the saying "you make more you spend more"? Yeah, that's Michael for ya. Funny how that works, huh?

Moving on...

The original and cliché goal - SAVE MORE MONEY. For not only us, but also Remington. Honestly this is one of our goals every year. Especially after saving really hard for over a year to pay for our wedding and then poof, all gone! In 2015 we actually did pretty good. Much better than we did in 2014. So here's to hoping that 2016 is even better! If we could actually make and stick to a weekly/monthly budget, that would help. But.... we're terrible at that. What can I say, little steps. ((It's unfortunate that baby stuff is so darn cute and addictive... I have a hard time refraining from some of those purchases. Whoops.))

In addition to saving money, Michael and I both agree we need to PAY OFF THE CAR. It would save us $210 a month. After that we would like to work on paying extra on our RV and pickup (2017 goals?!). After that the only debt we would have is our home!

I'd like to spend less time on my iPhone or the computer and spend more time READING. I've been noting a few book recommendations and I'm hoping to get back in the swing of reading something besides the words of the internet. We are going on a road trip to KY in a week so I really need to get my hands on something like today. Any recommendations for must reads are appreciated! (Kristen, I know you have a list! Lol)

Now that I'm home all day every day, I really need to step up my game on MEAL PLANNING. Especially because I need 3 meals a day. Or should I say, especially because the grocery store is over a half hour away and I have very little interest in going there every week. (I can get fresh fruits and veggies local but other items are way too pricy at a small town store). I get so bored with meals. I've seen a lot of great posts about freezer meal dump bags and meal prepping one day a week. I would love to get back in the habit of using my meal planning pintables again as well.

I'd like to become more KNOWLEDGEABLE WITH MY DSLR. I've had it for almost 3 years and I still barely know a thing about it. I really enjoy taking pictures. Especially of Remington. But I'd like to become more "professional" with the quality of pictures I take. I've always wanted to get into photography, I've just never taken the time to learn. Laura's post for beginners is a great place to start!

Last but not least, FOCUS ON HAPPINESS AND LOVE LIFE. Last year was not only an amazing year with welcoming our bundle of Joy into our lives, but we also hit some rough patches. There were many many many times I felt I was struggling to find happiness and positivity. In 2016, I want to focus on being happy, being thankful, being positive, having faith, and to learn to love every (good and bad) minute of my life.

What are your goals for 2016?!

Remington Rose ♥ 9 Months

I'm a little behind (my famous words these days) on posting Remington's current stats! As of December 30th, she is 9 months! Due to the holidays and then all of us being sick, we weren't having any good days to take our monthly pictures! Plus she had a rash on her face that I wanted to clear up.
Weight/Length: 22.2lbs and 28.5" Michael asked the Dr. what's the average weight for a 9 month old. He said Umm.. probably 15-18lbs. Remington is the average of a 12 month old. Ha! Hammy!
Clothes: 12 months. I have to admit, we spend a lot of our days in our PJ's. When I say we, that means me too. Ha!
Sleep HabitsGetting sleep is a real struggle. Typically Remington has her last bottle around 6-7. Then doesn't want to go to bed until 9:30-10. Therefore within an hour or so, she's up to eat again. Which means Mama doesn't get any sleep. The other problem is that you have to make sure she's sound asleep before you lay her down. Otherwise, she'll be up crying and you'll have to spend another half hour getting her back to sleep. We've done the cry it out method. Unfortunately she cries for 30-60 minutes until she can't breathe. :( Once she got sick a few weeks back, I haven't had the heart to make her cry because I know she doesn't feel good. With not feeling good, she's typically up every 1-2 hours crying and then every 4 hours she's up to eat. Long story short, as always, Remington is not a good sleeper and I am lacking sleep majorly.
Eating Habits: If little miss sees someone else eating, she thinks she needs a bite too! She is doing sooooo much better at feeding herself. Although she still does miss her mouth and makes a mess all over, but that's okay! She typically eats every 4 hours. Has food in her high chair for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and then bottles through the night. Lord knows she can't go without eating through the night yet. :(
She seems to like pears and raspberries the most. She doesn't care for chicken, venison burger, or turkey yet. She also loves toast.
DiapersChanging diapers is not Remington's favorite thing to do however she dislikes wearing a dirty diaper. She is still in size 4 Honest diapers. They just came out with overnight diapers so I included them in my next shipment and I can't wait to see how they are! That would be one less thing to wake her up through the night!
Appearance: Her hair is thickening up which makes it seem to me more of a dirty blonde color. She has 1 more bottom tooth that poked through and 2 top ones that will be through any day! She also has really dry skin with a few rough patches throughout her chest/back and the Dr. said it was mild eczema.
Nicknames: Stinky, Sassy pants, Remi, Remi Roo, Tiny, Tiny Toots, Pumpkin, Baby
FirstsRemington celebrated her first Christmas and New Years! She came down with her first cold followed by an ear infection. She took her first steps on her own and continues to take more and more every day. We took her to see the Nicol's Christmas light show for the first time. She's learned to climb things and she specifically likes to climb the fire place.
Doing/LearningShe is getting better at waving hello/bye bye. Climbing up, under, and through things is her jam. She's pretty comfortable with walking on her own all the time. She falls down and stands up on her own rather than needing something to pull up onto. When she really wants to get somewhere in a hurry, she bear crawls as fast as she can. She babbles all day long! Once she said "Mama"! She likes to push her walker toy around but hasn't learned how to turn it around or pull it back from being stuck.
Likes: Playing peekaboo and watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse is definitely her favorite things to do. She got a little couch for Christmas and she loves climbing all over that thing! She loves the remote, our iPhones, the dogs toys, anything that makes noise, books with animals, unfolding laundry, and her blankie.
Dislikes: She dislikes being told no, wearing socks, having something taken away from her, when she is hungry or tired and you set her down or walk out of her sight she acts like the world is ending. She especially dislikes when we go on the other side of the dog gate and keep her locked out. She still isn't a fan of riding in the pickup but she's getting a little better.
Mommy's FeelingsI have to admit, there were a few weeks in December that I thought I was going to lose my mind. I was frustrated, exhausted, and mad about everything. Then, Michael became my saving grace when he got laid off. Having him home all day, every day has been nothing short of amazing. Even though he typically doesn't get up during the night with her, he is still helping out with tons of other stuff and in the end it has allowed me to not feel so exhausted and overwhelmed!
