The Good News vs. The Bad News

Last week was a roller coaster. But I (we) survived. Do you ever just have one of those days/weeks where it's one thing after another? Sometimes I think the saying is true - when it rains, it pours. But, I also believe in the saying - everything happens for a reason. So, here's to hoping this week will be a whole lot better!

The good news:
I mentioned that we finally found a couple houses we like that we were going to look at on Sunday, March 13th. We wound up falling in love with one of the houses. Gorgeous house. Great location. Had everything we wanted - mudroom, finished basement, pole barn, etc. It even had a pool and they said we could have the chickens. Score!

The bad news:
We wanted to put an offer in but our realtor required we needed to find out if the interested buyers of our house were interested still. If so, we needed to get a signed contract from them to make our offer look better. Insert stress of phone calls, deadlines, phone calls, no progress, etc.

The good news:
After 2 1/2 days of  about said stress counter offering, we came to a negotiation with the buyers on our house and began the paperwork for the purchase agreement. Therefore, we could get our offer in on the house we want.

The bad news:
By time we got our offer in, the sellers had already accepted another offer. Cue tears. For days. Literally.

The good news:
I'm trying to focus on the good news that our house is sold! Can you believe it?! Finally! I don't believe it. Is this for real?

The bad news:
They want immediate occupancy as of May 1st. Ummm.. that's like 40 days away and we have no place to live. Do you know how much shit we have to move?? Michael's never home... he's always working so umm.. how's this going to happen??

The good news:
"But we just bought a new camper! We can live in that!" - says Michael. Insert rolling of the eyes by me, the pregnant one whose been there done that with a newborn.

The bad news:
So... about that camper.... we purchased it February 11th. Our delivery date has been pushed back twice due to still being on the line at the warehouse. So our new scheduled pickup date was this past Saturday, March 19th. The night before at 4pm, they called to tell us our camper was still not delivered to the dealership yet.... Insert cuss words and an angry customer ending with "I'll have Michael call you to deal with that."

The good news:
I made Michael be the bad guy (after all, I dealt with enough stress and BS all week long with the house situation) and he basically told them that he took work off for this appointment and we're coming there regardless so they better get the camper ready in time otherwise we didn't want it. Me - "You said that??? Michael! We need that camper! We might need to live in it!" Ahhh... mixed emotions obviously. Haha.

The bad news:
We arrived to our appointment and the camper was still not delivered to the dealership. We spent our entire day driving there and back. It takes two hours one way.

The good news:
The new camper arrived before we completed the paperwork. We traded in our old camper and got to take a peek at the new one before we headed out. I also told them mother truckers that they will be delivering to my house by this week.

The bad news:
We still had to leave empty handed without our new camper because it had to be inspected and prepped first.

The good news:
They agreed to deliver it to our house.

The bad news:
However due to Michael's work schedule he won't be home to watch a demo of how things work and they require doing that before the camper is handed over. So that's TBD. I told them I don't care about that, just deliver it and we'll worry about that when the time comes. I have a whole entry way full of boxes that has been driving me insane looking at for two weeks now considering they keep bumping our delivery date back. Those boxes need to go somewhere before Remington's Birthday party in 2 weeks. Preferably unpacked and into the new camper. We're running out of time people...

The good news:
We ran into a few outlet stores at Birch Run before we headed out and I got some great deals on a few summer items for Remington!

The good news:
We had a productive weekend of cleaning house, moving things, and I got some crafting done for Remington's first birthday party!

The good news:
I went to a Mom to Mom sale about a week ago and got a whole bunch of stuff for Remington and the new baby (gender neutral/boy stuff). I only spent about $50! A lot of it is pretty much new! Holiday outfits, shoes, bathing suits, dresses, onesies, PJ's, etc! Michael was even impressed with the deals I got!

The good news:
Despite the rough days we had last week, this little girl keeps me smiling and laughing all the time! ♥

  1. Congrats on the sale of your house!! I thought I'd tell you our debacle to make you feel better. ;) we sold our house unexpectedly in 3 days. We are living with my in laws while we build (in Dundee where we're from) and have 5 months before it's ready. We have to be out by April 15 and one week of that is vacation. We've packed for 7days straight so far and I still feel like we haven't even scratched the surface. Good luck to you. All hands on deck soon!!! Losing the house you love to someone else is a bummer, BUT next time you'll have no contingencies and you'll love the next one and hopefully see it as a blessing in disguise :)

My parents are in the same boat with finding somewhere to live. They just set a closing date in April for their house and didn't expect it to happen so soon. Now they are scrambling to find somewhere to live! Praying it all works out for you guys!
