With the 4th of July creeping up on us, I thought I'd share a tried and true delicious Red, White, and Blue dessert for the occasion! I actually just made this for Remington's 1st Birthday party and as always, it was such a hit!
(Trifle/Truffle... whichever you call it!)
What you need:
- 5oz package of instant vanilla pudding (or you could use cheesecake which I've tried and it's delicious too!)
- 1 can sweetened condensed milk
- 1/2 C water
- 12oz cool whip - thawed
- 8oz sour cream
- 1 angel food cake cut into pieces (I have a big truffle dish so I like to use two cakes)
- Approx. 2C fresh strawberries
- Approx. 1C fresh blueberries
In large bowl, combine pudding, milk, and water with a whisk. Refrigerate mixture for 5 minutes.
Remove from fridge. Stir in cool whip and sour cream until smooth.
In a large trifle dish, layer pieces of angel food cake, add a layer of berries, and then add pudding mixture. Repeat for several layers. Garnish top with berries.
Refrigerate for 4 hours before serving.
If you don't already follow Shay from Mix and Match Mama, you better hop on over to her blog and check it out! She posts about kiddos, travel, shopping deals, and most importantly - FOOD! And the bonus fun fact?? Her brother is Sean from the Bachelor so sometimes she gets to go to Bachelor events and of course talks about Sean and Catherine. ;) She really seems like such a sweet down to Earth young lady and I love following along!
