Final Bump Watch ♥ 39 Weeks

Yep, you read that post title correctly... this is the final bump update for Baby Joy #2! Due to the size of the baby and based on the complications I faced when I had Remi, I will be having a scheduled c section slightly early. Now I'm not going to shout it to the world which day it is (because I'm weird like that)... so be sure to follow me on snap chat (justjuliejoy) and/or IG (justjuliejoy)!

How far long:  39 Weeks 3 Days

Gender: We will know SO soon! Eeeek! I definitely am getting more anxious about knowing. Part of me thinks it's a girl, yet part of me thinks its a boy since this pregnancy has been so different. It's slightly annoying how many people think that we truly know and we are lying. Thanks for raining on our parade people.

Since we found out with the first baby, I thought it would be different to not find out this time around. Not to mention, we have so many other things going on right now that occupy my mind and time from allowing me to even prepare for a specific gender if I wanted to.

Minor detail.... we may have an envelope from an ultrasound appointment that we got "just in case" we decided we wanted to know! The envelope has be folded up and tucked away and honestly, we've had no temptations! But we've laughed about it! It will be fun to have as a keepsake and a story with the baby book.

Weight Gain: 39lbs. Seriously. Yikes. The weight is all pushing straight out on my belly button and I'm not quite sure how much more my belly button can stretch! :(

Baby Size: As big as a pumpkin.

Fun Fact: Baby is able to flex limbs! (Duh, it's kicking my insides all day and night! Ha)

Maternity Clothes: For the most part, all maternity. Thankfully, we haven't had to go anywhere or do anything so I pretty much wear comfy clothes every day. Michael's t shirts, a few maternity tanks/tees, these or these shorts. I've even worn a bikini (non maternity yikes) to take Remi swimming. Ha!

Sleep: Not so great. This past week I've been having contractions in the middle of the night like whoa. Not to mention waking up every 1.5-2 hours to pee, being uncomfortable, or having indigestion and feeling like my throat is on fire. Some days I just want to nap when Remington naps. But heck, I already sleep in until she wakes up so that's probably bad enough.

Movement: Yes! Tons of movement. Sometimes even painful! He/she sits/protrudes to the right just like Remington did too.

Stretch Marks: Nothing major that I can see, although I did notice some purple marks near my belly button. I thought maybe they were veins but I think they are actually stretch marks. That poor belly button of mine can't really stretch inside out much more!

Cravings: Artic Freeze from DQ. Oh my heavens. Fruit and ice cream. I blame the summer weather for my cravings!

Belly Button: Umm.. my poor belly button has stretched beyond it's reach. It's pretty hideous. Let's just hope it returns to normal.

Anything making you queasy or sick?: No

Symptoms: Consistent contractions day/night. Sore back. Light headed. Thirsty. Tired. Weak feeling, especially in my legs. My Dr said my iron is extremely low so I'm on some iron pills. Acid reflux. Short of breath. Tired. Cellulite on legs and butt (TMI?). Emotional. You know, same ol'.

What I miss: Chasing/playing with Remington easily. Being comfortable. Bending over.  My summer clothes. Sleeping on my back/belly. Being able to carry Remington in the ergo. A nice ice cold summer cocktail (wine, Redd's apple ale, sangria, mojito... you catch the drift)

Emotions: I'm not sure if I'm more emotional about leaving Remington for the first time or meeting our new bundle of Joy. I am also nervous about adjusting to having two babies. It's going to be a rough adjustment for Remington. And I know it's going to be a rough adjustment for me being alone a lot. I am excited to meet this little guy/gal though! I truly can't believe it's happening so soon! This pregnancy went by soooo fast!

Dreams: None that I can think of.

Hubby's thoughts: Nothing new here. I'm not kidding when I say he didn't act like he knew I was pregnant for the last 9 months. At least the last two weeks he decided to start thinking about names. (eye roll)

Nursery: Empty. Literally. We took out a tote of clothes from storage to get us by for a little bit. We also have the swing, rock n play, and car seat out. We ordered a dresser for now. Which isn't going to be here before the baby arrives. After he/she arrives I would like to choose some what of a color scheme for the room and even if we don't paint, I would at least like some curtains or something.

Favorite Moment(s): Getting caught up on my to do list before the baby arrives! I made 20 freezer meals (post to come on that!) and we got our maternity pictures back! I was surprised at how many favorites I had despite how bad I thought they were going to turn out! I also went to my Mom's salon for a pedicure this week. Which was heavenly!

What I am looking forward to: Well... I guess I can officially say I'm as ready as I'm going to be so bring on that baby boy/girl!!!

Catch up here...

Baby Joy #2 Maternity Photoshoot

The days of being a family of three are quickly winding down! Despite the bright mid morning sun and our extremely crabby toddler, Shanell still knocked it out of the park with our session! As you already know, she's my favorite friend and photographer for capturing the greatest moments in our lives!

Since we've taken these photos, I honestly didn't think I was going to have many favorites. Remington cried (for no reason) the majority of the time and the sun was sooo bright. By time we left, I wanted to cry. I was frustrated and disappointed. However, as I sit here and look through these pictures, I can't help but smile as I admire our little family... My soon to be family of four! I'm thankful for Shanell's patience with us and for her amazing talent. Without her, I wouldn't have such beautiful keepsakes of these precious moments in our lives (side note: Michael tried very hard to persuade me away from getting maternity pictures for the second child).

Now if only I could narrow down a couple favorites... because of course, I have too many! ;)

Bump Watch ♥ 37 (almost 38) Weeks

Well you never know when one of these bump updates will be the last since we're getting down to the wire...

How far long:  37w5d

Gender: Still don't know... I was a little nervous after last weeks ultrasound that the tech might slip but nope, she didn't! For a while I got the feeling that it was a boy... but now I feel like I'm leaning more towards a girl.

Weight Gain: 37lbs and feeling like a piggy. Barf.

Baby Size:  According to last weeks ultrasound, he/she is estimated to weigh 7.5lbs already.

Romaine Lettuce - 6lbs & 18.9"

Fun Fact: Baby inhales, exhales, sucking, gripping, and blinking.

Maternity Clothes: For the most part, all maternity. Except a few shorts and my favorite Maurices tanks that I have in every color, some maxi skirts, and Michael's t shirts. I pretty much wear comfy shorts like these or these or a dress, maxi skirt, leggings, and Michael's t shirts. I've learned that with the summer heat, I absolutely cannot stand wearing anything full panel or thick material. My belly gets way too hot and itchy!

Sleep: Sleep has been pretty shitty. Between waking up every 1.5-2 hours to pee, being uncomfortable, or having indigestion and feeling like my throat is on fire. I definitely still cannot bring myself to get up before Remington does in the morning, therefore my time to myself is very limited nonexistent during the day. I guess you could say I'm taking advantage of my sleep now before it becomes very minimal.

Movement: Yes! This little guy/gal is a violent one! When I sit down, it must limit his/her space because the kicks become very strong and sometimes painful. He/she sits/protrudes to the right just like Remington did.

Stretch Marks: Not yet (that I can see), but goodness my belly is itchy and large!

Cravings: Nothing really... fruit, ice, and ice cream if anything. My appetite is not the best and I know I'm not eating like I should be for two.

Belly Button: Umm.. my belly button is the ugliest thing! Seriously... it's so inside out and stretched out! Plus where my belly button was once pierced is so stretched and ugly looking (again).

Anything making you queasy or sick?: No

Symptoms: Light headed. Weak feeling, especially in my legs. My Dr said my iron is extremely low so I'm on some iron pills. Sharp pains and sore muscles in my lower stomach/cervix area. Very sore back and sharp pains on my right side. Especially when I stand up too fast. Acid reflux. Short of breath. Tired. Cellulite on legs and butt (TMI?). Emotional.

What I miss: Being comfortable. Bending over. My summer clothes. Sleeping on my back/belly. Being able to carry Remington in the ergo. A nice ice cold summer cocktail (wine, Redd's apple ale, sangria, mojito... you catch the drift)

Emotions: Stressed, worried, anxious, etc. Pretty much the same emotions as I mentioned before... I am most nervous about adjusting to having two babies. It's going to be a rough adjustment for Remington. And I know it's going to be a rough adjustment for me being alone a lot.

Dreams: None that I can think of.

Hubby's thoughts: He doesn't say a thing... Other than me telling him what I'm feeling or what the Dr's say, he doesn't really ask about the baby, feel him/her move, or really make any comments in general about the baby or my enormous belly. Last week he suggested we talk about names. That's a first sign of initiative.

Nursery: Empty. Literally. We took out a tote of clothes from storage to get us by for a little bit. We also have the swing, rock n play, and car seat out. We looked at some furniture this past weekend and picked out two sets that we like. I feel like they are more boyish than girl though...

Favorite Moment(s): Having an ultrasound, even though he/she barely showed his/her face. Michael and I went out to eat sans baby to celebrate our 3rd anniversary. We got maternity pictures done. Which was an argument and a half.. men. I was excited about getting them taken until we took them and Remington was very uncooperative, I wanted to cry. Not to mention I didn't like my hair. I hope once I see them I will have different feelings.

What I am looking forward to: Nothing in particular. Honestly, as much as I can't wait to meet this little bundle, I just told Michael yesterday that I'd be okay with the baby staying where it's at for a while longer because that's just easier right now. I'm emotionally not ready and having a lot of anxiety about it.

Comparison of Baby #1: Similar for the most part...  Except I did notice that I don't have the linea nigra this time. The pressure/pains I've been feeling already seem so early compared to with Remi. I gained more weight in my back/butt/thighs with Remi and my belly was more round. This time around I feel like my belly is more oval and I'm carrying much lower. The Dr said that it's normal to carry lower for your 2nd pregnancy.

Avocado Fiesta Salsa

You guys, this Avocado Fiesta Salsa is a must have! It's perfect for summer time and oh, so delicious! I have to thank my Mom for introducing me to this recipe! She didn't have a name for it, so I just made up my own. Ha!

What you need:

2 med/large Tomatoes (diced)
Frozen Sweet Corn (12oz or more)
2 cans Black Beans (drain & rinse)
Fresh Cilantro
Scallions (chopped)
2 Avocados (cubed)
Olive Oil
Vinegar
Water
Dry packet of Guacamole
Dry packet of Italian Dressing

This recipe can be mixed with more or less fruits and veggies so feel free to adjust the quantity to your preference!

In a large bowl, mix diced tomatoes, corn, black beans, avocados, and scallions. Eyeball ingredients to determine amounts and add more if desired.

In a blender bottle or salad dressing mixing bottle prepare Italian dressing according to the directions on the packet (mix with olive oil, vinegar, and water).

Add packet of guacamole to the dressing mixture.

Pour dressing mixture over salsa mixture. Mix well.

Garnish with cilantro (or add lots to the mixture, whichever your preference).

Refrigerate for an hour before serving. Serve with tortilla or pita chips.

Enjoy!

Summer Lovin' + 4th of July + Goodbye RV Living

I can't believe it's already a week into July! We've definitely been busy enjoying the summer and I think it's safe to say that it's Remington's favorite season. That little girl has a nicer tan than a cabana boy!

Since my last update about our chaotic lives... we've moved to 3 different camping spots, stayed with my Mom for 3 days due to malfunctions on the camper, moved (partially) back into our house, have had zero showings on the house (womp womp), kind of rehomed the dogs, played outside a lot, my brother got married, prepared a little bit for baby #2's arrival, spent time with family, and celebrated the 4th of July (read: ate ALL the foods).

Here's some minor details about what we've been up to...

+ 8 weeks of RV living has officially come to an end... for now. Although once I get settled back into the house, I will be making a few short trips to camp before the baby's arrival. I have to say, living in the camper wasn't as bad as it sounds. It was an adjustment, but overall it wasn't bad at all. I'd say the hardest part was cooking, conserving water, and dealing with the dogs. Oh, and that fact that Remi's sleep schedule went hay wire.

+ When I say partially moved back into the house, picture this: digging through the storage unit to prioritize what boxes to unpack, no furniture moved back in, a card table for a dining table, no couches... pretty much nothing but the bare necessities and a never ending list of things I keep determining I am missing. Ought to be interesting, right?!

+ My brother had a small wedding near his place in Washington and is planning a trip home later this year to celebrate with family! Yay! It was a pretty last minute thing, but we are so happy to have Tai become a part of our family!

+ I'm working on packing my hospital bag this week... I picked out a few boy items and a few girl items. Crazy to think we will soon meet this unknown gender baby! Maybe we'll start to think about names soon... whoops! Any hospital bag must haves I shouldn't forget?!

+ We've camped on Lake Huron twice in the last couple weeks. Living in Michigan and being surrounded by water is truly one of my favorite things. So beautiful!

+ Remington sure does love her Aunt Jasmine. She gets so excited when she sees her and loves to play with her. It's so sweet. Jasmine helps me out quite a bit when she's around!

+ The 4th of July weekend not only consisted of camping with a group of 4 campers, but we also enjoyed a trip to the truck and tractor pulls (Remi & Jazz's first time), the farmer's market, lots of playground time, a parade, and a BBQ.

We've certainly been busy enjoying summer to the best of our ability! I realize most of the things I've been writing about are boring and my readers (what's left of them!) probably don't care about any of this mumble jumble, but I know these crazy times will soon be distant memories and I like to use this space to document said craziness. To those who've stuck around reading and who've sent me messages or prayers of encouragement - I thank you from the bottom of my heart!
